How do I install WhoUseMyPort on my Mac?

To install WhoUseMyPort on your Mac:

  1. Direct Download: Download the DMG file from our website, open it, and drag the app to your Applications folder
  2. Alternative: Use the direct download link at the top of our homepage

The app requires macOS 10.15 (Catalina) or later.

Why does WhoUseMyPort need administrator privileges?

WhoUseMyPort needs administrator privileges for certain advanced features:

  • Terminating processes that are using ports
  • Accessing detailed process information
  • Monitoring system-level network connections

Basic port scanning works without admin privileges. The app will only request elevated permissions when needed.

Is my data safe? Does WhoUseMyPort collect personal information?

Your privacy is our top priority. WhoUseMyPort:

  • Processes all data locally on your Mac
  • Does not send any data to external servers
  • Does not collect personal information
  • Works completely offline

How do I scan for specific ports or port ranges?

WhoUseMyPort provides several ways to filter and search for ports:

  1. Use the search box to find specific port numbers
  2. Filter by protocol (TCP/UDP) using the dropdown menu
  3. Filter by port state (LISTEN, ESTABLISHED, etc.)
  4. Sort by clicking on column headers

The app automatically scans all active ports when you click the Refresh button.

Can I terminate processes from within WhoUseMyPort?

Yes, WhoUseMyPort allows you to safely terminate processes:

  1. Right-click on any process in the port list
  2. Select "Terminate Process" from the context menu
  3. Confirm the action in the dialog that appears

Warning: Be careful when terminating processes, as this may affect system stability or cause data loss in running applications.

How do I switch between English and Chinese languages?

WhoUseMyPort supports both English and Chinese:

  1. Click the language button (🌐) in the top toolbar
  2. Select your preferred language from the dropdown
  3. The interface will immediately switch to the selected language

Your language preference is automatically saved for future sessions.

Troubleshooting Guide

🚫 App Won't Start

  1. Check that you're running macOS 10.15 or later
  2. Try restarting your Mac
  3. Reinstall the app by downloading the latest DMG from our website
  4. Check Console.app for error messages

🔍 No Ports Showing

  1. Click the Refresh button to scan for ports
  2. Check if any filters are applied
  3. Ensure you have network services running
  4. Try running the app with administrator privileges

⚠️ Permission Denied Errors

  1. Right-click the app and select "Open"
  2. Enter your administrator password when prompted
  3. Check System Preferences > Security & Privacy
  4. Allow the app in the Privacy tab if needed

🐌 App Running Slowly

  1. Close other resource-intensive applications
  2. Reduce the refresh frequency
  3. Clear the app's cache by restarting
  4. Check Activity Monitor for high CPU usage
